Education for Adults and Children

Religious School

CBI Religious School is a vibrant learning community of 250 students and their families. Our education begins in Kindergarten and continues through the teen years. Students in Kindergarten through second grade attend religious school on Sunday morning, and grades 3 through 7 attend on Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon or evening. For more information, visit the Religious School page.

Ten-Mile Hebrew High School

Ten-Mile Hebrew High School is in its formative stage. This year, we will begin a program designed for the teens of our congregation and Jewish teens from our surrounding communities. The program is underwritten by Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey and is taught by both teachers from our synagogue community and beyond. Topics for eighth and ninth graders include Israel Interactive and Sacred Choices . For sophomores, in their confirmation year, discussion topics include reaffirming our beliefs in God, personal responsibility, mitzvot, and our relationship to Israel. For juniors and seniors, the learning tracks include the Teacher Training Corps and Social Action Corps. Classes are held once a month on either Wednesday evenings or Sunday afternoons. Dinner discussion groups and field trips to New York City are planned to round out the full curriculum.

Adult Education Classes

CBI has developed a series of Adult Education classes for our congregation. Though the curriculum changes as our congregants needs change, examples of current classes include:

The Jewish Service: How to get more out of Friday night and Saturday morning services.
Torah Study with Rabbi Schechter: Study each week's parsha.
Adult B'nai Mitzvah Class: A two year course consisting of 21 sessions each year for adults to become well educated Bar and Bat Mitzvah. The course will cover prayer, commandments, charity, holidays, beliefs, text-study, Israel (ancient and modern), Shabbat skills and American Judaism.
Women of Wonder: A women's study group that explores Jewish learning through our personal perspectives.

The Weintal Preschool

Established in 2000, the Sally and David Weintal Preschool had been a vision and a dream for about 14 years. With the advent of a brand new building, we opened our doors to approximately 40 children in September 2000. We are affiliated with Congregation B'nai Israel, but we are open to all children regardless of religious beliefs. Our students and teachers reflect diversity while offering an extensive and positive introduction to Jewish customs and beliefs. Click here for more information about the Weintal Preschool.
